What are they?
Dermal fillers are gels, most often containing hyaluronic acid (a substance naturally found in the body), injected under the skin. They restore volume lost with age, define facial contours and soften deep lines. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with a special enzyme if needed.
Treatment areas
- Upper face: Forehead, temples and between the brows
- Under the eyes: Tear troughs and a dark-circle appearance
- Mid-face: Cheeks and around the cheekbones
- Nose: Non-surgical nose reshaping
- Around the mouth: Nasolabial folds and lips
- Lower face: Chin and jawline
After the treatment
- Swelling and bruising usually settle within a few days; they may be more noticeable on the lips.
- For the first 24–48 hours, avoid make-up, intense exercise, sauna and hammam.
- Do not press or rub the area, and avoid sleeping face down for the first few nights.
- The final look is assessed once the swelling has fully gone down.
Who may not be suitable?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Cold sores, inflamed acne or infection in the treatment area
- Allergy to hyaluronic acid or local anaesthetics
- Blood thinner use or a bleeding tendency (must be mentioned at the consultation)
Possible side effects
The most common are swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness. Less often, palpable firmness or unevenness may occur. Very rarely, a blood vessel can become blocked; if you notice severe pain, paleness or bluish discolouration of the skin, or blurred vision after treatment, contact the clinic without delay.
Frequently asked questions
Do fillers move?
When a filler is placed in the right area, at the right depth and in the right amount, the risk of it shifting is low. That is why the product, amount and technique are planned for each person.
Are fillers permanent?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent; the body gradually breaks them down. How long they last depends on the area, the product and your metabolism.
