What is it?
EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) uses a device to deliver electrical or electromagnetic impulses to the muscles, causing involuntary contractions. It aims to support muscle tone and firmness in the treated area. At our clinic it is usually planned together with AWT acoustic wave therapy.
Treatment areas
- Abdomen and waist
- Buttocks and hips
- Arms and legs
How is it done?
- The area and your expectations are assessed at the consultation.
- The device applicators are placed on the treatment area.
- You feel rhythmic muscle contractions; the intensity is adjusted to your comfort.
Aftercare
- You can return to daily life immediately.
- Mild muscle soreness, similar to after an intense workout, may occur.
- EMS is not a weight-loss method; it should be considered alongside regular exercise and a balanced diet.
Who may not be suitable?
- Pregnancy
- A pacemaker or other implanted electronic device
- Metal implants in the treatment area
- Epilepsy
- A hernia, open wound or active infection in the treatment area
